Is workaholism really an addiction? if someone enjoys working long hours, does that make them a workaholic? What if one’s job demands long hours and success is dependent upon it?
Workaholism is a soul-destroying addiction in much the same way as all addictions. It impacts family members, and can lead to the loss of personal and professional integrity.
Working long long hours may be a symptom but it is certainly not the only one. When there is a compulsive need to achieve status and success, or to escape emotional stress, something unhealthy is happening.
